He decided on something a little bigger today.
hello! did you know that letting your cats outside unsupervised is highly detrimental to their health and to the local ecosystem? cats have been domesticate for over 5000 years. we did well by removing them from their ancestors, which is mainly the african wildcat. therefore, they’ve lost their place in the wild, and they’ve become an invasive species in turn.
invasive species are animals that disrupt a certain ecosystem by either overgrazing, overhunting, or by any other way, really. take foxes in australia for instance. or mink in norway. in a way, humans are also an invasive species in certain areas, but yea, so are cats. i don’t know about whether cats in the middle east have a certain negative impact tho, since that’s where they have been domesticated at first. but in places like america, they certainly are. here allow me to provide you with a couple of sources that explain you how certain prey species have been driven to extinction by cats, and how many more are even afraid of breeding because of them!
- cats & wildlife
- cats are obliterating florida’s endangered wood rats
- cats, birds and you
- cats kill more than one billion birds each year
- domestic cat predation on birds and other wildlife
- fear of cats may put city birds off breeding

- impacts of feral and free ranging cats on bird species of conservation concern

now that we’ve got that covered, how about talk about the safety of your cat? the world is a cruel place. wild animals know how to avoid unncecessary danger, especially danger by humans. since cats are domestic, they do not know of such danger. for instance, in america there are a bunch of predatory species that might look for an outdoor cat as an easy meal! for instance, bobcats, birds of prey, coyotes, you name it! other than that, cats might also go after rats and other rodents that have been poisoned. or they can be run over by a car (a cat does not know the difference betwen a road and a sidewalk)! other than that, there are also lots of cruel humans out there. like, in the netherlands alone, 8000 - 13000 cats have been shot by fucking assholes every year! (google translate the page if you want to read it) here have a couple of other sources telling you why you shouldn’t let your cat unsupervised:

- indoor cat facts
- indoors or outdoors?
- indoor versus outdoor cats
- keeping cats indoors
- the great outdoors is no place for cats
- top reasons to keep cats indoors
your cat depends on you for food, shelter and safety in general. you wouldn’t let a dog go out unsupervised, so why let your cat go out like that? and trust me, outside dogs and cats are not really that different from each other. it is a myth that dogs will get lost or that they will do more terrible than a cat in general. i’ve met a pet dog that was allowed to go out as he pleased, and honestly there isn’t a difference. so, if dogs aren’t allowed to go out unsupervised, then why are cats? here are six reasons you might let your cat out, and why not to (general indoor cats myths, such as they ~might get depressed~).
i hope you’ll consider carefully what i’ve just told you. it is indeed not easy to abandon old beliefs- hell, i once also believed that cats would be provided with much more enrichment outside than inside! however, there’s too much at stake (conservation efforts, animal welfare, your cat’s safety). and besides, who says a cat cannot be enriched inside? however, here is a page about how to turn an outdoor cat into an indoor cat.
with that said, your cat still could enjoy the outdoors, but then safely and without a negative impact on the local wildlife! train your cat to walk on a leash (cats on leashes look supercute imo!), or if you have the manpower and resources for it, you can also build an enclosure or a ”catio” for your buddy!

- leash training your outdoor cat
- do-it-yourself fence for domestic cats
- outdoor enclosures for safe outside play
- purr…fect fence
- sunCATcher enclosures
- the catio: safely giving your cat the outdoors
other than that, this is a very helpful page about cat care. you’ll find many sources from how to keep your cat enriched in many different ways to how to keep your cat from getting overweight.
hope this helps!

Someone didn’t follow instructions on how to build a Cat
That is some INSANE Bracycephalia!
this is so sad like, how the fuck does that cat even breathe properly during an excersice??? how the fuck does it even eat and drink properly??? tfw u lack an actual SNOUT and some creature breeds ur kind for it because it’s aesthetically pleasing to them.
oh and also they call this qualzucht, which literally translates to torture breeding. torture breeding is illegal in germany, for one (idk about other countries).
this is honestly gross like it’s actual animal cruelty. and people don’t even see the cruelty part of this..
Just confirming because I work with them all the time, flat faced cats have a REALLY hard time eating(I have to push their wet food into a little mountain for them to help them grab it), and their faces are NEVER this clean. You have to wipe them every day with gauze, and wipe their noses too because they get respiratory problems all the time.
These cats aren’t cute, and the term “torture breeding” has to be the most accurate description I’ve heard of this.
